2025 Safety Equipment and Boat Operations

General information:

Meet your instructor in UNIS reception at the agreed time. A theoretical / practical introduction to UNIS shore bag (safety equipment), flotation suits and survival suits will be given before we suit up and head to the harbor. At the harbor we will try the suits and do some exercises to practice swimming in a survival suit.

What to bring:

• Extra set of clothing

Objectives:

• Learn how to use survival and floatation suits 
• Practical exercise in water 
• Introduction to the shore bag  
• Introduction to VHF, satellite phone, emergency beacon 

After the lesson, the students shall:

• Know how to wear the suits correctly 
• Have learnt basic techniques for swimming/floating with the survival suit, both alone and as a group
• Be familiar with the shore bag 
• Be familiar with the suit washing and storage procedures at UNIS
